This week was my employee Brian’s birthday. I like to make a big deal about this kind of thing because we are like a little family here in Paradise. I love free printables and of course Pinterest has a wealth of ideas, inspiration and sites with free materials perfect for any occasion. The color printer in my office died so I am just left with black and white but the chalkboard look is so chic and Brian is all about chic! You can find these cute banner letters at www.shanty-2-chic.com
You can find the Happy Birthday printable sign and many others from www.iheartnaptime.net

Turn any occasion into a celebration with just a little crafty decoration.

Happy crafting!

Thanksgiving Thoughts

November 22, 2012

Tomorrow, Jeff and I will be going to his parents’ house to celebrate Thanksgiving. I wanted to bring a little something as a thank you for hosting and was going to pick up a bottle of wine, but found out that our Target doesn’t in fact  sell wine. Sad day. So instead I picked up two bottles of sparkling cider for $5. Well, you know those felt leaves I made last week? I got out my hot glue gun and made little necklaces for the bottles. So now I have a small gift for my mother-in-law, and one for my own mother when Jeff and I visit my parents on Friday.

I used  three felt leaves, a small leaf button and some red ribbon.

Only the top leaf is embroidered with leaf veins so that saved a lot of time.

I think I like the brown leaf necklace the best because I hot glued the ribbon all the way in the back. Also, the bottle looks more fall-ish instead of pink.

It was a very quick project to dress up a small gift, but I think my mom and mother-in-law will appreciate the thought. I think little personal touches mean the most.

Right now, I am so thankful for family, paid days off, glue guns and Sleepless in Seattle. I am also thankful that you have taken the time to read this. Whether you are with family, friends or complete strangers working overnight in retail, I wish you a truly wonderful Thanksgiving.

Give thanks and give crafts.

My first stab at blogging…

Cute free vintage labels you can fill in and print out! click here

I’m putting my first label on a jar filled with sand. I wrote  “Valentine’s Day Weekend 2009 Kill Devil Hills, NC” and others I made say things like “Handmade by Crafty Cara” or “A Crafty Cara Creation” – I thought that was clever (haha)

Also, I am in the mood for spring and I was trying to find ideas to brighten up my apartment. I found a few photos online of really cute and fresh flower arrangements that I thought I’d share.

And one more thing I think is really adorable and has got me collecting jars of all sorts is this cute favor idea (I’m pretty sure I found this on theknot.com)!

And just so you know I’m getting pretty obsessed with this website.

I guess that’s it for now… look for more soon from Crafty Cara.
